The Job

We're seeking a Systems Engineer to join an exciting squad within the business. Working with a variety of technologies, you will be part of a team that supports the web hosting platform for We’ve embraced Agile and Lean principles so we’re looking for an engineer who understands the importance of team work, communication and collaboration.

You’ll design, develop and maintain infrastructure code, ensuring optimal availability, stability and security of the platform. Implement tools and software to prevent problems from reoccurring. Build effective monitoring to monitor the health of the platform. Design and implement systems to work across our cloud availability zones and data centres. Work on both private and public cloud infrastructure and implement infrastructure code and unit/integration tests using continuous integration tools. You will also join the team’s on-call rota, in place for incident escalation.

You will need solid foundation in Linux systems administration and troubleshooting (Redhat/CentOS). Experience with building, operating and maintaining complex and scalable systems. Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python/Bash/Ruby). Experience with configuration management automation (Chef/Puppet/Other). Good knowledge of continuous integration processes and tooling. Experience with public cloud technologies (AWS/Azure/Google).

The skills listed above are critical to the role. The following are desirable -Worked within Linux environments using containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes/Other). Experience with virtualization and private cloud technologies (Cloudstack/XenServer/Vmware/Other). Knowledge of NoSQL databases, caching and queuing technologies (MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis, SQUID). Experience with Big Data platforms (AWS EMR). Familiarity with unit and integration infrastructure test frameworks (Serverspec/InSpec/ChefSpec/Other). Implementation and configuration of content delivery networks (Limelight/Cloudfront/Other). HP Blade/ProLiant Server management. Load balance technologies such as F5 or HAproxy. Use of portable development environments (Vagrant). Experience with infrastructure definition tools (Terraform/Cloud Formation).
